The significance of churches
Seen through outside eyes, Finland's numerous modern churches seem like a curiosity, since they are seldom built elsewhere in Europe. Stockholmer Rasmus Wærn feels that church architecture liberated from dogmata is crucial to architecture's development, as the Finnish examples demonstrate. The features of sacred space have also appeared in secular buildings, especially world expo pavilions.
