Editorial 5/19: The Weight of Sustainability
Does anyone know of an architect who would not want to work in a sustainable manner? A designer who is utterly unconcerned with the environment? Today, each and every one of us as professionals, citizens and individuals have to evaluate our role in the ongoing changes that are threatening life on earth. The unanimously harsh truth of the matter is that, as fields of industry, land use and construction consume large amounts of natural resources and energy, directly and indirectly causing a lion's share of the emissions and waste produced. We are not equally unanimous, however, when it comes to the kinds of changes this should prompt in architecture.
