Tall, Wooden, Finnish
Finland, like elsewhere, has in recent years built more and more – and higher and higher – in wood. The construction of an 8-storey apartment block with a wood structure first became possible in 2011. The design of Puukuokka in Jyväskylä began immediately at that time, and on its completion three years later it was Finland’s first 8-storey wooden apartment block. In 2018, a 14-storey student dormitory was completed in Joensuu, which is currently the country’s tallest wooden building.
