Studio: 1918 – Sites of remembrance of the Finnish Civil War
An autumn 2018 landscape architecture studio module at Aalto University explored the themes of remembrance, atonement and forgetting. The participants designed sites of remembrance for the 1918 Civil War.

In February 2021, the fourteenth Alvar Aalto Medal was awarded to Bijoy Jain, the director of the Indian architectural office Studio Mumbai. In their work, the office seamlessly combines architecture and craftsmanship and attention to local conditions.
In September 2020, our editorial office received a letter entitled Call for Action 2020 addressed to institutions engaged in cultural activities in Finland as a call for anti-racist action. In this article, we wish to reflect upon the letter and the questions it raises.
Women began to practice architecture in Finland in the early 20th century. Female architects founded their own association, Architecta, in the 1940s. Pirkko-Liisa Schulman traces the history of the association.
