The new duckboards and viewing platforms built on the marshlands of Helsinki’s Vanhakaupunginlahti Bay aim to bring citizens closer to urban nature. The design of accessible nature trails has to balance between seeming opposites: how to maintain the innate wildness of nature while making it available for everyone?
