How to repair a radical building, Nicolas Moreau and Hiroko Kusunoki?
French-Japanese architect duo Moreau and Kusunoki are currently the lead architects for the cultural transformation the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Ella Kaira spoke with the architects about restoration, cultural institutions and how looking closely at the past can open up possibilities for the future.
Moreau Kusunoki is a French-Japanese architectural duo known for their sensitive approach to architecture and the world around it. They have won numerous national and international competitions and also secured a memorable place in Helsinki’s architectural history with their winning Guggenheim Museum proposal in 2015. That project was never realised, but cultural building projects never left the pair’s table: for example, they are currently designing the renovation of Centre Pompidou in Paris.
